Standing Committee on Communications

Under the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives, standing committees are appointed for the life of the Parliament. The 42nd Parliament was prorogued on Monday 19 July 2010 and the House of Representatives dissolved on Monday 19 July 2010 for a general election to be held on Saturday 21 August 2010.

All Committees in the House of Representatives and joint committees of the Senate and House of Representatives for the 42nd Parliament ceased to exist upon the dissolution of the House of Representatives at 5:00pm, Monday 19 July 2010.

At the prorogation of the Parliament at 4:59pm, Monday 19 July 2010 all committee inquires lapsed. Therefore, inquiries of the 42nd Parliament that were not completed have now lapsed; however, information about them is still available on this website. Information on Committees for the 43rd Parliament will be presented here as soon as it is available.

The Standing Committee on Communications conducts inquiries into matters referred to it by the House of Representatives or a Minister of the Commonwealth Government.
